Full screen on TV from laptop with HDMI lead
I have searched the internet and tried everything it's told me to do but - I have an aging Acer Aspire 5735 laptop and a brand new Grundig TV. Not a smart TV. Everything works perfectly when playing back stuff, videos are fine, DVDs are fine, but on live TV and iPlayer, the whole picture moves to the right and we lose a quarter of the pic. I've tried making the computer output to projector and making it equal on each output, no good. I've tried different pic size on the TV - no good. Is it just the age of the computer compared to the telly - can anyone help.
Many thanks if you can.

I would check you have the latest drivers for your graphics chipset. Might help.

If that doesn't fix the problem then I think it actually sounds to me like the TV is in 'Auto-detect' mode for the screen size and ratio and is misinterpreting the input signal, you might find that disabling auto-select and manually setting on the screen ratio you want will help...

Groucho, thanks for that, I have tried altering the pic size on the TV but still lose the right quarter of the picture. Erol, I went on to the Intel driver website (the comp has an Intel processor and graphics)and tried to install any updates but each time I do, it says that my computer is not capable for the task.
I think it must be the age of the computer and we will just have to live with the reduced pic. Unless anyone else has any bright ideas. Thanks for trying everybody.

Re: Full screen on TV from laptop with HDMI lead
Oh crikey any day now I was going to try this procedure on my TV set up but with an almost new laptop and then kick Digiturk into touch as they are charging 71tl a month now, and thus have NTV and iPlayer on the 44inch TV (its a smart TV BTW) I thought I might try it first using my Lenova which is the older of the laptops but very powerful. Would it work using a little notebook which has no hard dry, or is that a very stupid question. Don't be harsh..........I'm a technophobe and know no better!!!
