Re: Dried Fruit
There has been lovely dried fruit and nuts at Lambousa Market last couple of weeks. Bit late for today but next week?

A word of warning about loose raisins here; they are not deseeded
, and currants if found cost a FORTUNE!

Re: Dried Fruit
I have bought fairly recently packets of Whitworths mixed fruit & Whitworths raisins from the Supreme in Catalkoy. They were on the bottom shelf where all the other dried fruit & nuts are displayed, tucked right up in the corner. I can't say whether they still have them in stock.
As MrA says Tempo usually stocks them & I've bought from there in the past. Again unable to say whether they have them in stock at present.
Before making the journey over to the East you could maybe check the Tempo on the road to Girne which is just past the roundabout on the left hand side where HSB bank is.
Fatouche is quite right be cautious with other packs. I made my pudding one year delighted with my big fat juicy raisins. Spent the whole time spitting out the pips. Think they must have been grapes the amount of pips there was in them. Spoiled an otherwise lovely pud.
Good luck

Re: Dried Fruit
I bought 10kg of loose raisins, only sampling them when I got home. I then spent the following week stoning them all! Not an experience I would want to repeat in a hurry.

Re: Dried Fruit
Haven't seen them personally, but I gather there are a number of stalls selling dried fruit at the Girne Wednesday market. Suspect you might have to deseed them though. Worth a try.

Re: Dried Fruit
That's where I bought the raisins full of seeds from. They have no currants and the sultanas are an exhorbitant price.

Re: Dried Fruit
Have also been caught with the raisins here it is like eating grit despite spending hours trying to destone them. Always buy Whitworths seedless raisins from Alpha Mega now very expensive but who wants grit in their rum & raisin ice cream?

Re: Dried Fruit
Ozankoys, just for your information, if you soak the raisins first, they are easy (though still time- consuming) to destone.Asyou said Whitworth (or any UK make) is the best option. The local sultanas are OK, apart from the fact that you have to pick through them to remove rogue stalks, and the fact that the price is ridiculously high.

Re: Dried Fruit
To confirm Supreme Catalkoy have in stock Whitworth sultanas 325gr, mixed fruit 500gr, raisins 500gr all are 12 50 tl per pack.
