Kibtek -again!
We had a new smart meter fitted in our apartment in November, received the final bill from the old meter and this was paid by direct debit in the usual way. We then had to return to the UK urgently and didn't have time to register the smart meter with Kibtek. We are still in the UK and notice via HSBC internet banking we have not had a direct debit payment since the final bill from the old meter now over six weeks ago.
We assumed the direct debit payment system would continue as normal but maybe this is not the case.
Has anyone else had the same problem and will we now not get a bill until we have registered the smart meter or even worse when we return after Christmas will we find the power cut off, not a pleasant thought arriving late at night in February!

I sympathise with you - the new system has never taken into account anyone other than permanent residents and it's full of pitfalls for those who have a holiday home here... We should hope that they can sort out this very poor implementation but heaven only knows if they will... They don't seem to be able to do impact analysis and get it right.

We were told, having paid the interim bill for the old meter, not to expect the next bill for 6 / 8 weeks. Also told that if this created a problem then arrangements could be made.
Enquirer as to the direct debit system and was assured it would continue as before!!

You can have problems believe me even if you live here. We go into the bank to pay and were told by Credit West that banks had not been informed by Kibtek what people bills were. Went in 3 times before we were allowed to pay last week, despite the fact that we had received text and a paper bill, telling us what we owed. I read somewhere on here that you have to owe 450tl before they remove your mains fuse. Perhaps you could do a search and check I have that correct.

Re: Kibtek -again!
Slightly different - we bought a place (wired up but no meter installed), so had a new (smart) meter installed and registered in September at the Girne office, registering online with Kibtek at the same time. We did use some electric before we came back to UK; paid a couple of hundred TL at the office to cover in advance. Since then, I've logged on a few times with Kibtek, but every time (including a few minutes ago) I just get "Son devreye ait faturanız henüz hesaplanmamıştır. (Your bill has not yet been calculated for the last half.)"
So whether we're getting the old-style paper bill stuck in the meter cupboard - I don't know... At least I've paid in advance, so I hope there's no problems....

Do you have a friend in TRNC who could take your meter number and register it with Kibtek for you? If so that may set your mind at rest about being cut off.

Re: Kibtek -again!
We registered ours by email and the direct debits continued as before just on different days. They also now email our bill which is good for when you are in the uk. Their email is info@kibtek.com

Re: Kibtek -again!
Thanks for the comments. Yes we do have a couple of neighbours who could register the meter for us but from other posts it appears the November bills have been delayed so we'll hang on for a while and maybe we'll get a bills for six weeks. In any case our usage will not top the 450TL so we should be OK.

Re: Kibtek -again!
For anyone who found themselves in the dark as we did regarding auto-bills from Kibtek, I'm pleased to report that a direct debit went out of our account about six weeks after the smart meter was installed. It appears that, albeit slowly, the system is working.
