Surely a Skyescraper fire in Dubai has no revelance here(Maybe 100's burnt to death,but not 1 fatality is not news)
Nor the death of a singer in USA at age 65(I admit she was a great singer)

Just 2 of many random postings in recent days that occurred thousands of miles from here.

Are there rules or suggestions that we only post affecting our lives in TRNC

Sorry Mike but I think the opposite. A lot the the posts, where to find something or recomendations and warnings, are of course, important to the forum, some even vital, but they can get somewhat parochial. I would like to see more discussion on other general topics. As I have said before the important thing is clear headings, and not "teasers" then people know before they open a post whether it is whether they want to spend time reading it.

Particular if you are asking for information, make it clear what it is about, its pointless putting a post saying "does anyone know the phone number" for instance unless you specify whose phone number

Perhaps a heading of "TRNC News and Views" would solve the issue. Because I live here full time I personally love reading about how bad it is in the UK an just how expensive the flights are along with the terrible delays etc, as they don't bother me a bit I could care less, but it is Kind Of news after all.

I think if any items other than dedicated TRNC news are permitted then this forum would fast reduce to gossip, slander and innuendo. Obviously there are notable exceptions. Lets fact it, 99.9999 per cent of the world couldn't find TRNC on the map, its so tiny!! We would all become small minded, narrow minded and parochial (more so than some already are) and downright ignorant of the rest of the world. RR is correct - can contributors stop using teasers when starting a thread, some of them are just plain silly. Just give the information or ask the question, please don't faff about.

Mikelapta, sorry that you do not like the postings I have put up in the last couple of days. I just thought there might be some people who would be interested. News is news this time of year and has been said you don't have to look, the headings are clear(well as clear as you can get them for a heading).

Maybe you can put a bit more on Kibkom about what is going on in TRNC what your life is all about and what you do and what you like. I'm very interested, but if you want the forum to be a closed shop, maybe suggest that to Soner the Forum owner who also lives in UK.

I can always find news from the Philipines if you prefer.

Mikelapta, who are you to decide what other people should post about, it wasn't that long ago you were leaving 'paradise' for the charms of the very young of the Philippines.

Maybe you will get your wish of living in the Philippines, we can only live in hope.

Many people share news items which they find interesting. These items can be from the TRNC or around the world. I myself have regularly found out about things abroad from the forum. Certainly some local items can start as "gossip" but many turn out to be true and are headlines in Cyprus Today. The more information that is available, the greater service we provide. As moderators we try to ensure that any items that may be, or may become, slanderous or too contentious are removed.
Everyone, however, is entitled to their own opinion and should never have to feel intimidated about writing on the forum. It is there for all, whatever their own personal interests lie.

Please bare this in mind when you consider "inappropriate" responses.

I hope you all have had a great New Year and can look forward to a wonderful 2016, (particularly when the weather warms up!!).

I am locking this thread as it is getting a little too personal, but feel free to open another thread if you wish. Oh! and continue posting that news!
