My dishwasher is ruining my dishes!! After a hot wash, my dishes are slightly covered in a white film . I think this is due to the hard water here. Can anyone recommend a cure?

Have you tried a weekly calgon tablet and do you use dishwasher salt?

I had this problem with an Arcelic dishwasher. I stopped using the 'all-in-one' Finish tablets and went back to separate salt (Pril), rinse aid (Finish) and gel (Pril) and the problem disappeared after 3 washes.

I just fill salt up, until no more will go in. My Arcelic dishwasher takes quite a bit, maybe about 2 - 3 pint mugs worth. A long time ago, quite a few people advised on a now defunct forum, to buy a sack of salt from Siba, as it was much cheaper than dishwasher salt. It lasts ages. If you buy it, I recommend putting it into large containers to save it clumping up and ending up like a brick.

Can't give you an exact answer to that, depends on how much your dishwasher takes. Mine takes between two and three, pint sized mugs of salt.

I cured my dishwasher problem by divorcing him and started doing it by myself!

I had this problem even though I kept the salt level up ... a local service engineer advised me to get ''lemon salt'' and put in a tablespoon with the dishwasher powder on every wash. It works!! I no longer fill up my salt dispenser. You can find this in Ileli under the herbs and spices.

He also advised me not use capsules or tablets so I don't ! x
