The TRNC v UK Price for Specs
Does anyone know if spectacles are cheaper in The TRNC than buying in the UK please? I wear very lightweight plastic lens varifocals and the optician in the UK wants almost £500.00. Thanks

Check and see if you have an Asda opticians in your area. A friend here recommended them to me, and I passed info on to my parents. Mother always has had to pay a high price for spectacles due to her prescription, was delighted with both the price and spectacles from Asda. If you already have your prescription, just take it in and have a word. Just checked prices and top price is £100 of £159 for two on their website.

For UK purchases:
People pay well over the odds for glasses on the UK high street, don't get ripped off. All you need is a prescription - try the online sites for huge savings:

Pick the style(s) you want and they post them free for you to try on. Easy as that. I bought me and my wife's prescription reading glasses for less than £50..!

I have tried sites on the internet but when you need/have varifocals not much use. Ok if your eyes are straightforwardRAZR63 wrote:For UK purchases:

Choose your spouse, friend, relative, in difficult days. On a good day, no one shows their purity.

I wouldn't risk the internet for buying varifocals, but probably OK for simple reading glasses.
I can recommend Vrachimis opticians in Larnaca (near the open air car park off Finikoudes), they also have a branch in Protoras. Very good service and about half UK prices

The price of varifocals will vary vastly dependant upon type and quality of lense and type of frame selected. If you go for top of the range varifocals then £500 is about right. Cheaper alternatives will be found particularly from the multiple type opticians.

Essilor is considered the best available lens
on the market. They are expensive, but one you have tried them there is no going back,.......if you want the best protection for your eyes against sun damage they are worth the extra money.
