Comparing car hire companies

Does anyone have experience of using 'British Hire Car' company please?
I've used Pacific once, and A-One for the last three visits - on the last trip the car provided had definitely seen better days, so I'm wondering whether to change hirers - so, can anyone help regarding British?
Thanks in advance.

If you are looking for cheap, stick with what you are using. If you want quality try Cyprus Pines. Of course it will cost a bit more, but there will be no nightmare scenarios. contact Yakup on 05338686779, his english is excellent.

We tried British once and were given a really old car so didn't use them again. Carringtons are very good and also their cars are usually not more than a couple of years old. Good service.

We also used Cyprus Pines, plus Yacup is a fountain of knowledge and very helpful.

Thanks for the comments; one point that I should have made is that automatics are off the list, so unfortunately Carringtons (who only have manual 7-seaters) are out - I've been driving for about 50 years, but the first (and only) time I've driven an auto was when I first visited. I booked with Pacific, specifying manual - and on arrival, was provided with an auto - "no manuals available..."(?), so I persevered for the fortnight. Never again; 50 years of manual habits are not easy to overcome; I don't know who was more terrified; me, my family (passengers) or other road users!

So agree with you Jofra. Had our little car for six years now, only drive it if I've no choice. I feel like it's driving me rather than I'm driving it.
Oh I'd so love a manual. My daughter once said to me once you've driven an automatic mum you'll never again want to drive a manual. For once in her life she was wrong.
At Christmas we hired a car at Edinburgh airport, a Mercedes. You needed a pilots license to drive it. My other half soon got the hang of this complicated machine. if left to me I would have jumped out of the car & caught a bus!!!

Made a few bookings with A-One recently for forthcoming guests, some of whom had some pretty dodgy cars last year (wing mirrors taped on that sort of thing), and was told that they have sold all their old cars, so I guess if you speak to them about your previous experience, they may be able to rectify the situation.

That sounds good; owners on and visitors to our little patch have been regular customers of Ismail (A-One) for a few years and have always recommended him - hopefully there will be no reason to stop....
