240v -110v step down transformer?

Morning all. A very kind friend from America has sent me a Hunter ceiling fan. She had one in her house and I commented on it and hay presto one arrived. Anyway it's 110v USA, I was wondering if anyone knew if I can buy an inline 240v - 110v step down transformer? I've tried to purchase one in the Uk with no joy.
I can purchase one from the USA but it takes approx three weeks, I only have 18 before I come to paradise again . Thanking you in advance Murray

I think you are Tring to achieve the imposible. Where would you house the transformer, even a small one. If it's located in the consumer unit it will almost certainly affect more then one light. You would in that case have to run those light affected on 110 volts..I would sell it and buy a 240vol one!

Hi you can buy an inline transformer it's about 2.5" by 1.5" some manufacturers but these in there own fans so you can use in any country. As I said I can get one from the USA BUT was hoping I could get one inTRNC.

As per my first post I don't know how you could hide even a small transformer. Digging a hole where your ceiling rose is and burying it would lead to big problems! Locating it at the source (consumer unit) would pose similar problems. Sourcing a transformer should not be a problem. Unless the fan has the facility for multi voltages I would suggest you get rid of it and buy a 240 volt one.

Has thornaby has pointed out the difficulty will be hiding the transformer which you could get at Tectans, in the UK you can generally use the space between ceiling and floor above to hide them in, here ceiling and floor above are solid concrete.
On my fans there are what look like upside down bells which hide the electrical connections at the ceiling, it may be possible to have yours adapted to hold the transformer .

A I see where you are coming from .. I have wooden ceilings with beams hiding a transformer would not be the problem.

Make sure that any transformer that you get has a sufficiently high wattage rating, and that you allow good enough ventilation to avoid it becoming a fire hazard !
