lazer eye treatment
Hi,
I'm hoping to have my eyes lazered for long and short sightedness. I'm planning on going to Near East (Yakin Dogu) for advice.
Have any of you had this treatment, and if so, can you give me any advice please, ?

Re: lazer eye treatment
Had this done in uk nearly 5 years ago and have to say was brilliant and not too expensive either, prior to this was using contact lenses and if i took them out i couldnt recognise someone from a few meters, and what a difference it made could read the tiniest of writing on things that i never even saw before so can only say that in my case it has changed a part of my life. It is a very simple procedure a few seconds on each eye and the laser is painless but must say that there was some pain when then machine pushes down on your eye to try to flatten it so the laser can run over it rather than follow the curve of your eye. Money well spent and would do it again tomorrow if needed.

Re: lazer eye treatment
I have been wearing glasses just about all my life. A couple of years of contact lenses but got bored with putting them in and out,
I have had lazer treatment on my mind for some years now, alot of people say they wish they didnt do it and that their eyesight is same or worse even.
Would it be better doing it in the UK?Any tel numbers or contact numbers of lazer centers in the uk?

Re: lazer eye treatment
I had mine done about 15 years ago in London. I was short sighted but since the day after the treatment I've not had to wear glasses for short sightedness. Over the last couple of years I've had to wear glasses for reading as I'm gradually getting long sighted but I was told that this would happen. The laser isn't pleasant and your eyeballs may be bruised but the treatment itself didn't hurt, my eyes were gritty for less than 24 hours (like when you get something in behind your contact lens). They told me to bring someone with me which was just as well because my eyes watered so much after I couldn't see. They also gave me a sleeping tablet and told me to take it and go to bed when I got home. I did and when I got up the next morning I was pain free and had perfect vision. The follow-up checks were good, the next day, the next week, the next month, etc and confirmed I had 20/20 vision. Wish I had had it done sooner. I would think that the treatment has got even better since I had mine done. Btw a lot of people I worked with at the time got it done and no-one suffered any problems afterwards. The company also warned about potential risks and I had to sign a disclaimer.
I would suggest visiting Dr Mustafa Guvenir in Lefkosa if you are interested in laser treatment. I think he will give you an honest opinion. If you search the forum you will find directions to his office.

Re: lazer eye treatment
I know a lot of people who have had this done in UK & all have been pleased. Depending on your age & the severity of your eye condition you may have to wear glasses for reading immediately. Please do not go anywhere that has not been recommended you only have one pair of eyes. I would second Dr Mustafa Guvenir as the man to go to I do not know if he does laser surgery but he would certainly know where to go if he does not.

Re: lazer eye treatment
As i said in my earlier post had mine done 5 years ago when i was 56 and best thing i ever did cost me £2000 with interest free credit over two years. Used a company called Ultralase in London after checking out a few others and the difference is incredible can read without glasses and vision is better than ever .

Re: lazer eye treatment
Thank you all for your replies, you're very kind.
I would rather have it done over here though, as I have no intentions of going to UK in the near future.

Snap David....... Ultralase, Hammersmith??. Had mine done 2001. Best thing I ever have done.......BUT, had a shock when I actually SAW my husband for the 1st time. Married 44 years.......... .... No problems at all. No pain, only thing was could not wear make up, or get water in my eyes, which was difficult when washing hair. Would like it done now for reading etc........not sure this is possible.
