Near East Hospital Girne - blood tests
Do they have blood test facilities at the Near East Hospital in Girne. Also does anyone know if they can do an ECG there.

you should also ask about what packages they have on offer too as you may have a few more important tests done for the same price as you are asking for the two

Get a quote first and if you have the tests done go to another hospital for a second opinion
3 month ago Near east quoted me 45,000 tl for an operation got the same work done at another hospital 6,000 tl and all recovered

We always use the Etic hospital in Nicosia. Excellent service and very good prices. They also give BRS members a discount. Speak to Dr Guven Tel: 0542 853 2288. He will book you in and advise you.

The Near East also give BRS members a discount. I have had blood tests and ecg carried out there, no probs. Then onto the hospital at the uni in Lefkosa for bone density scan, again no probs and very cheap, 82 lira for the scan, immediate results given.

Think they must have under charged for the bone density scan as I have always paid around 300tl for these - have had 2/3 done. ( with BRS discount)

I just, rather optimistically, had a look at their website to see if they had a price list for 'routine' tests like blood tests, scans etc - but no such luck!

Re: Near East Hospital Girne - blood tests
Well I have the receipt for my blood tests, although I daresay that may be different depending on what they are testing for. I got tested for a number of things and it was 326 tl, and for the cardiovascular check, which I think was an angiogram, was 40.72 tl. Consultation fee was 110, but that was a one off regardless of how many follow ups for the same thing.

Mrsgee, an angiogram is an operative procedure, where they insert a catheter into your groin or wrist. If you had this done for TL42.72 then I was seriously robbed. Can you clarify?

Re: Near East Hospital Girne - blood tests
carrierbag, are you thinking of an angioplasty perhaps?
An angiogram is defined thusly: - "a type of dye that's visible by an X-ray machine is injected into the blood vessels of your heart. The X-ray machine rapidly takes a series of images (angiograms), offering a detailed look at the inside of your blood vessels" (source: Mayo Clinic).
Generally speaking, anything that ends in 'gram' means 'taking a picture'.
Obviously there may be procedures which involve 'taking pictures ' via catheterisation, but as you say, you'd be unlikely in the extreme to get that done for TL42.72 - and they'd probably give it a longer (more expensive) name

Sorry maybe I used the wrong terminology, on the receipt it is listed as Kardyovaskuler sistem..., I had various wires attached to my ankles chest and wrists I think...and maybe some other places which I cannot recall exactly, but there were quite a few of them....than a machine was wheeled in and a reading taken.....maybe it was just an ECG then, whatever.....it was done very quickly at a very good price.
