That's right now he's got some work to do... he's off! Don't fancy actually doing some real work for a change so PM's pension will do nicely thank you....

Re: Cameron to resign
Think he is right to do so. No Captain of should remain to go down with the ship once the crew has mutinied. As comment about "real work" and "PM's" I can only assume that - being an ex PM yourself - you would know and understand the full amount of normal work that a PM has to undertake.
For myself, having no love for any MP of any party, I feel he is right to hand over the ship to one of the mutineers as they obviously know the best way forward for themselves and the country, in their own minds.

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Cameron will be looking for a cushy well paid job either in the E. U. Or in a company of one of the Tory party backers.

Cameron is right to resign and I know it is the opposition party but surely the labour leader should resign as well as he was also in the remain camp. How can you run with something you don't believe in.

Cameron did the honourable thing, whatever your political allegiance.
He firmly backed remain so no way he could hold onto power thro the transition and eventual leaving of the EU.
As for Corbyn think it was a weak performance by him and further sets back the labour party.

Couldn't agree more with Posh, hopefully Corbyn will do the honourable thing and resign too. Boris and Farage will now have to put there money where their mouths are, so glad I'm a Scot.

I am also Scottish, but I can't see the connection between being Scottish and Messrs Cameron & Corbyns' potential resignation?

Re: Cameron to resign
Cameron took a huge gamble to win the last election when he announced an in/out referendum ......then did not anywhere near anticipate the swell of support for the out campaign.
He knew full well that it could be an out vote and he has took the easy way out....no balls to stay and see through what he started.
Good riddance

Re: Cameron to resign
Cameron should be ashamed of himself. Only a couple of days ago he was giving an interview saying that he was the PM and even if the vote went to the leave side he would carry on the roll. To be honest if he is that shallow perhaps it is a good thing he has resigned, I hope the other part of the ' Dark Duo ' feels the same way.

Re: Cameron to resign
I think that Mr Cameron after failing to win the referendum should depart as soon as possible. Not because I think he is a poor PM but because the country need good clear focused leadership in the coming weeks and months in order to fight for the best BREXIT deal that we can get.
As the EU has also taken an economic hit after the vote. Both sides are seeking to minimise the fallout and I expect little help from the EU to facilitate a smooth departure. The UK needs to get this done to build new confidence and fight to win investment. The EU is a full on competitor with the UK now and there will be no prisoners.

Surely if you are trying to minimise the fallout on both sides you would try to facilitate a smooth departure.waz-24-7 wrote: As the EU has also taken an economic hit after the vote. Kerry the EU will act in its own interest as will the UK. It will certainly be to minimise damage to its own economy. Consideration for the UK will hardly get on the agendakerry 6138 wrote:Surely if you are trying to minimise the fallout on both sides you would try to facilitate a smooth departure.waz-24-7 wrote: As the EU has also taken an economic hit after the vote. A quick sharp exit would suit the EU to re install confidence and stability. The Uk situation is far more complex as it must unravel 40 years of EU legislation. New legislation, new government bodies, new protocol and procedures. the list and costs will be significant and in a time of economic turmoil!! Its almost akin to the TRNC writing its own constitution and legal system. We know what a complete sham that is but al least they have Turkish money to keep the country afloat.

The horse has been flogged to death Waz, a democratic vote was taken and the leave side won so instead of repeating your gloom and doom please accept that decision and let us move forward to rebuild our country.
I personally think that Cameron did the honourable thing under the circumstances as the next leader will need to be committed to deal with what may be ahead.

I absolutely accept the democratic result. I have said this if you would please look.
Rebuild the Country, This too is accepted. Mr Cameron did the honourable thing. That is agreed upon also.
The gloom in the UK at present is a fact and there is little rejoicing on the streets.
In fact if there was I would feel rather more comfortable. The shock of the result to working people especially the young is evident.
The immediate losses to our economy as the experts predicted is coming home to roost.
I feel for the new leader of our government who must deal with economic turmoil and the possible break up of the United Kingdom.
Not a great deal to be buoyant about do you agree?
I do however believe in your stance that we must now pull together and rebuild after this self inflicted disaster.

Thats my point EU always acts in its own interest being a net exporter to the UK it would need to maintain those exports or risk damage to its own economy.waz-24-7 wrote:Kerry the EU will act in its own interest as will the UK. Kerry
To continue to attack the EU is now pointless.
The debate now is upon post BREXIT strategy and aftermarth. Certainly the UK can only act as a singular nation and the EU is a direct competitor vying to win investment, trade and prosperity from the UK.

To return to the subject topic I'm still struggling to understand the actions of Cameron...
What a coward.....what a gutless man he is..
After announcing the vote he bows and scrapes to the EU elite and gets thrown some morsel's which he then insults the great British public by telling us he has secured some major reforms which is total fabrication and then campaigns for months with lies and scare tactics again insulting the great British public and to top it all he loses the contest and then resigns and runs away..
What a total t**t he really is.

I think Mr Cameron did the right thing to resign. The BREXIT was against his judgment and to take the helm after the loss would not instill confidence.
Are you suggesting that you want him to stay? He was a demon whilst against BREXIT and now he is a demon for resigning after losing the vote. Can the man do anything right by you?
After BREXIT. It should be the BREXIT camp that lead and they must now account and deliver.
That indeed I am now fearful about. Right wing politics from Farage. BNP, and the like. Little thought has clearly gone into the aftermath of BREXIT.

Cameron said some time ago that if he did not get the right deal for the UK then he would work tireless to to campaign out ?
He did not get that deal and did not work to exit the EU..... you simply can't trust this man ?

Surely its the government who will be doing the negotiations so not sure why Farage but especially BNP keep being mentioned.
I'm no fan of Boris but has he was popular London Mayor I imagine he is or at least wasn't considered extreme right wing.

What is the way forward now?
Political turmoil now prevails and this will be echoed by the markets on Monday morning. Take that as a prediction.

AS far as Cameron is concerned, to misquote Shakespeare "nothing so became him in the role of Prime MInister as his leaving of it"
He had nailed his colours so firmly to the "stay" mast, that no one would have had confidence in him to lead Britain out of the EU and at least he has had the decency to recognise that and not make a drama out of it like some people! And presumably he wont exactly be welcome if he applies for a sinecure in the EU!!!!!

Boris has today somewhat changed his tune.
" we do not need to rush exit from the EU"
"we can negotiate membership of the common market"
This will come at a cost ..probably the £350 million membership and there will especially be the free movement of labour.
The EU will now be on front foot around that table. Tomorrows summit meeting will be very interesting.
Is anyone going from the UK I wonder?
I think a possible negotiation will take place behind closed doors to facilitate an OUT that is not really an OUT as it were.
Back peddling somewhat but politicians have an uncanny way of saying one thing but delivering something completely different that is dressed to appear as BREXIT.
