i pad -TV sound problem. Any ideas please?

We have sound on the i pad itself, but when connected to the TV we get picture only on the television on downloaded and live programmes on i player.
No problem at all when using film on.
Has anyone else had a sound problem with BBC i player?
Any ideas for a solution anyone please?
Was working normally until last night........
