Need Help to get a road tarmacked to my land.

Can anyone help? Does any one know of anybody working for Karakollar in KKTC?

I built a bungalow 2 years ago in Gecitkale then bought the land at the back for larger garden + development, placing a gate to the non-existent road. Two years have passed and have been asking local council to level and tarmac the road to the land, it is only a small road approx 20 metres leading to main road. On the map it shows that it is a road that leads to 3 plots of land, other two plots are not being used. Now the local council refuses to do this as they do not have the funds. I have been asked to approach the Karakollar in KKTC and ask them. I will need help in writing a letter to them requesting this as well as their address. However, if anyone knows of anyone working for the Karakollar that can give acurate infomation as to whom to contact then it should make matters easier.

If any one out there can help I would really appreciate it.

I wish you luck, Alsancak Beledye have been promising to tarmac our unmade up road for 8 years now. It's always going to be "done by the end of September"

This might "help" you a little Soner - the department dealing with the construction of roads or their repairs is Karayolları - if you were to ask for karakollar you might confuse a few people, because it means police stations.

I don't know anyone in the department you want, but I could ask mr Safa of Medview Homes! and I could find a friend to write the letter for you. do you want me to make enquiries, or have you found an answer from another source? Pity it is not in England because that was alan's job and he could have got a perfect job done for you by Bretts for whom he used to work. Oh well, nho point saying that cos he is not there and the property isnot there. So, how can I help?

Marion, Soner,
I also don't know anyone there, but this might help:
The Karayolları Dairesi is part of the Bayındırlık Ve Ulaştırma Bakanlığı (ie. the Ministry of Public Works and Transport) and their telephone number is 22 83 666. I'm sure the receptionist there must speak at least a little English.
As to the location of the said ministry, it's next to the İçişleri Bakanlığı .

I hope that helps.

Hi Marion,

When you are talking to Mr. Safa about the road, could you ask him when we are going to get our title deeds at Esentepe? We have only been waiting six and a half years.

Sorry Soner for hijacking your thread but just couldn't resist this posting.

Probably things are different in Dipkarpaz, but here people say find the man who drives the Tarmac machine, then chat him up and next time he is doing a job near you he will do it (for a few lira of course) and a cup of coffee.
When we needed a digger, I found the man and we came to an agreement. My Turkish is pityful, but I managed.
This method also worked in our English village, but it needs the personal input.
