thanks but hassan is far too busy to deal with repairs and he even has a waiting list into next week !
so anyone else who is available to repair my water heater think it may need descaling

I use a very reliable English speaking plumber Orhan 0533 8775330, always turns up same day and no rip off charges.

Andrew, if it is the "Hot Spot" type that hangs on the wall outside it is probably the same problem you get with you taps - full of sand and gravel - if you can isolate the COLD input side so you don't drown yourself, undo the COLD pipe and have a look, you will probably find a very small metal filter stuck up inside the boiler inlet pipe as well. Just give the thing a clean and stick it back together again - should do the trick. Of course if it is a super duper model then stick with a plumber - lol.
