Any generator experts please?

We have a generator with a pull cord to start it. This morning tried to start it but it just keeps "kicking back" We had it serviced last year, not being an expert not sure how to resolve the problem, any advise would be appreciated, thanks.

Check on YouTube there's loads of information about engine kickback generally pointing to the shear pin on the flywheel having sheared off or moved which puts the timing out could be relevant but not the only reason.

The shop opposite Bo Thai which used to be Canadian is excellent. We went to ask for them to look at our generator, sent someone out a couple of hours later. Took genie away and brought it back. Excellent service and the man speaks excellent English. Shop name is now Guden, man's nam is Huseyin, phone number 0392 824 46 45.

Is it petrol or a diesel set ?

Sorry for late reply…
It sounds like a Valve or decompressor problem to me.
Most likely on a diesel is the valves need resetting and you have too much compression when pulling it over.
I would suggest it may need to go in for repair.
