Where can I buy distilled (deionised) water?
Hello am looking for this for my iron, bought it in Superhome on the South but no luck this side.
Have tried Mr Pound, garages & motor factors so if anyone has seen it I would appreciate knowing where please.

I use ordinary bottled water., Have had no problem with build up in my iron. Maybe try a pharmacy if you don't want to risk bottled water.

It is available at petrol station shops, because it is used to top up car batteries!
It is a lot cheaper at AlphaMega etc in the South though...

When you use your air conditioner you could save the water as it's distilled water

...or any ice build up in your freezer - as long as it doesn't have breadcrumbs in itsoyelcin wrote:When you use your air conditioner you could save the water as it's distilled water

Hello thanks for suggestions but always used bottled water which resulted in a large amount of brown calcium build up.
Not sure about aircon water or frost from freezer so will have to wait until we go South again.

Aircon water is the stuff to use in irons and steam mops. We have been using it here for 11 years and the iron is still steaming just as it was when it was new.

Look for SAF SU , I buy it in a 5 litre bottle ( 10 TL ) from hassans (car accessory shop ) in front of Beyti restaurant ( tin pan alley ), though as KC says , all petrol stations sell it albeit in smaller bottles .

keith,
please let me know where to get in the TRNC 4 or 5 liters of deionised (distilled water is another category of quality...) water for below 1 euro.
for use in irons you can use the aircon water or even "normal bottled water" as it is mainly produced in an reverse osmosis process and is decalsificated, that should be sufficient.

Sorry, but I don't think that you can get it here for that pricekibsolar1999 wrote:keith,

I didn't even realise that Hassans sold it in containers larger than 1 litre!

Thanks for all the replies I reiterate that bottled water did not do the job with this particular iron. We currently have a bottle under the aircon hose but I don't think it produces much water on heat mode.
Guess the ironing will just have to wait - what a shame!

You can buy bottles of "ironing water" in supermarkets. Not always available in all supermarkets all the time. I generally have no problem buying it in Starling. It is to be found somewhere amongst the washing powder etc. and is called utu suyu in turkish.

Thanks for the kind offer but I bought some in Alpha Mega for not a lot of money & as I go most weeks it is not an issue.
Hippocampus you have hit the nail on the head when you say 'not always available in all supermarkets all of the time' how I wish that situation would change here then there would be no need to go South!
