Beware emails from HMRC !!!!!
This morning I received an email from HMRC saying that I was due a tax rebate. Whilst I was checking my account, a program came on TV about
con. artists, conning the elderly out of hundreds of pounds in UK.
I messaged HMRC only as I expected to be told the email wasn't sent from them.
In the email was a form which they asked me to fill in. I didn't open it.
I am only posting this, just in case any of you also receive it, and give them your details.

When I get an email from the revenue, firstly you have to had to have given them your email via phone or online.
You then have to log in via the Government Gateway with a user ID, and then a pin number is sent to your mobile.
You can then log in and view your messages.
The initial email only ever says you have a message from HMRC.

My wife got the same e-mail about 3 weeks ago, a few things made me think this was a scam, she is not British, never worked in UK, paid tax and has no NI number, she has only been to UK for holidays, a little suspicious if you ask me

Re: Beware emails from HMRC !!!!!
I would like to copy and paste the email I received, it looks so genuine, until I saw that I had to fill in the form giving the details that they should have already had. The point I am making is that there could be elderly, i.e. older people than me, that are more gullible. This was supposed to be a warning.
If I help just one person from being scammed, I'll be happy.

I have received a few of these emails. Firstly HRMC never email you with tax rebates. They ask you to forward the email to them on - phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk, they alway thank you and inform you it is a scam.
