I think I've found the problem for all theses people who say they can't get this TV station Etc. Etc.

If you want TV you have to pay for it !!!

You've got to buy a licence or subscribe to something.

Me Old Mom used to say to me " Son in this World you won't get owt for nowt "

Lodger do you not mean "the answer to the problem" ? On the face of, it your post sounds like another of those rather harsh judgments based on lack of understanding of other peoples' problems that deface this forum! What about those unfortunates who are lonely housebound through no fault of their own, who rely on TV for company but for whom a license at UK rates would mean a choice between TV and being able to afford medical necessities? Many of whom would qualify for free TV ef they were in the UK

However in fact you are right : there is no such thing as a free lunch, nor free TV.(unless you are over 75 and live in the UK!). The ISP that provides
"complimentary " UK TV does not do it out of the kindness of their hearts and pay for it out of deduction from profits! It is simply that the cost or providing it is added to the bills of all users of the ISP not just those who watch UK TV.! using the word "complimentary" instead of "free" is presumably their attempt to avoid liability if it goes wrong. I don't want to get into another argument about this ISP's marketing tactics and legal definitions, not least because I use the facility myself! but I would not like to be on their legal team if every it was challenged! "Experimental" would perhaps have been a better description of the service, and warned the customer that things could go wrong beyond the control of the ISP. Other so-called "free" Tv services have other ways of recovering costs, eg advertising.

As for the BBC, I have no sympathy for their position . When it was discovered that Tv programmes could be disseminated by internet they were so anxious to prove how clever they were that they forged ahead without giving a thought to the access it would allow to unlicenced viewesr, particulaly those abroad. For years they have been promising a paid service for overseas customers, but have never come up with one. The latest suggestion put forward was for a few of the "most popular" (ie nastiest!) programmes to available in Europe! Ah Well, at least Brexit will have put paid to that! In the meantime they (and the British Government for whom they are Agents in this respect) make unblushing admit that the BBC World Service (which until last year was funded by the Britsh taxpayer not the licence payer) had no intention of providing a service for British citizens living abroad.
It is not surprising that private enterprise has rushed in to fill the gap they have left wide open!
