You risk having it taken off you when you check -in for the Ercan leg and being placed in the hold , no hard and fast rules .

You can have your laptop Dublin-Ercan no problem it is on your return journey you may have to surrender or put it in the hold I am not sure if Eire is included in the ban set by UK on laptops flying in from certain countries including Turkey.

Re: Laptop in cabin luggage
On our last flight Ercan / Istanbul / Uk. There was no hard info as to what would happen at Ercan but TA had already instituted checks at Istanbul for laptops etc. On this basis we packed all IT in hold luggage except our smart phones. The security at the GATE for the Uk was quite intense with all hand baggage searched , a pat down and a swab of outer clothing. All laptops etc where taken away and a ticket given and would be available at baggage reclaim. The people with laptops taken were either on connecting flights or starting from Istanbul . My question is and was , as we are a connection flight to Istanbul from Ercan why can we not keep our IT goodies until surrendering them at the gate in Istanbul?
Any firm answers please from Ercan / Uk passengers.

With regard to my previous post I was referring to the intense security at the gate in Istanbul not at Ercan.

We flew back to the UK last Friday from Ercan, you can keep your laptop/tablet until you get to the gate at Istanbul. We had tablets, got the ticket for them and collected them before our baggage had even come round on the belt. No problems

Just to clarify it is only Turkish Airlines who are offering this service with Pegasus you have to pack in your hold luggage.

Why don't you guys just ring or email the respective Airlines & get the answer from the horses mouth so to speak, rather than get info from people who are not sure of their own answers .

Don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere already, but as of 1st June with Pegasus you will now have to get off the plane at Turkey on both legs outbound and inbound to UK.

Can I suggest to Belfast Belle that they try to get a definitive answer from an airline and when they get it perhaps they would let us know. Most people post their own experiences to possibly help others.
