Second posting as the first has disappeared ?
Does anyone know when this is officially opening as there is work being done at a pace cleaning road sides and even a new line down the middle of the road in yellow.

After a rendering of The Last Post and the Turkish national anthem the Prime Minister unveiled the statue of Kemal Ataturk, with dove in hand, on horseback - and officially opened the new park/function venue and children's play area.

Hope not the ones in Barish park where the fox just used to pace up and down all day made me sad and mad.

Who said it was OK? Rocking just stated the fact that they are cages for birds. That doesn't seem to be offering an opinion either way.

I am pleased for the inhabitants of Karsiyaka and surrounding area to learn they have somewhere else to wander around and long may it continue. However it does concern me greatly when I learn of anything caged, birds, feline, bovine, canine or whatever because of TC inability to care or understand for them (the exception being The Taskent Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre which is a different matter altogether). There is talk of the National Park being constructed in Alsancak having a Zoo and that concerns me no end!!

I have the phone number for Damla Beton, Robin Snape's wife. They are involved in the bird charity Kuskor and will help if any of the caged animals are distressed or mistreated in any way. I don't want to give out a private number on the forum but Kuskor is in the public domain and the number should be available to all. I suggest that those who are concerned monitor the situation, and act if, and when, necessary.
