Bottle Tops update please

About a year or so ago we where asked to collected and donate bottle top to be re circled and in return Wheelchairs donated.

Is the scheme still going? we are still giving our tops.

Have any wheel chairs ever been donated??

the girne rotary club cosmopolitan are collecting blue bottle tops.

these are for wheelchairs at a special needs unit.

Where can we donate the bottle tops and can they be any colour?

There is an official collection box for the bottle tops (at least there was up to a month ago) next to the other charity boxes in Sha Supermarket. There is also one for small batteries in case anyone is interested.

I must be terribly unobservant! Where is the official collection box in Şah please? I have been putting bottle tops in the wire box by the Disabled Spaces but have noticed recently that it contains alll kinds of plastic and wondered if it was going to the right place.

Without wishing to invade anyone's privacy it would be nice to know a little more about who gets the wheelchairs and as Thomas said how many have been donated

Haven't been up there for 8 weeks or so, but the small container was at the end of the check outs, next to the other charity collection boxes, close to the battery box. I feel sure about 2 or 3 times a year I've seen an article about people receiving new chairs, but on reflection I might have seen the pictures in Kibris, I can't be absolutely sure. Sorry

Thanks for the info Sophie. I dont usually use the end tills but I will now look out for them. Also the battery box as I have always worried about putting them in the bin!

It is so refreshing to find someone who cares about the disabled,, and it would have been nice to have had more details.

No point any more because no one knows where the benefit goes who get what etc

We're still collecting the tops.
My sister hands them in for us.
As far as I know, a lot of wheelchairs have been handed out to people ,
on the Island.
Hopefully someone can post more info.

Perhaps someone can pop in to Sha and ask them where they go, someone must empty the container from time to time. Would be a dreadful shame to stop just because of lack of information.

As far as I am aware they are collected by the rotary club of kyrena cosmopolitan who purchase and distribute the wheel chairs

There's the answer, please don't give up saving them. They don't have to be blue either.
