Antalya Very Clean
Have just spent Mon - Fri in Antalya with my wife. What a lovely place to visit what with the Port, Beach and Old Town Areas. The thing we both found very surprising was how clean and tidy the place was, we are always being told that North Cyprus is a rubbish dump as a result of the Turkish people who have moved here, however having now been in a town with a majority of Turkish occupants I must ask myself who causes the rubbish dump that we reside in?

Glad you have visited Antalya, we just love it. Regarding cleanliness, it is just as clean in Izmir, the capital Ankara and most of Istanbul (although there are pockets of scruffiness) Together with most of the small coastal towns. You have answered your own question as to who creates the rubbish here.
Re: Antalya Very Clean
Having lived in Turkey and visited many Turkish towns, I can safely say it's so much cleaner and most places beautifully kept, than here.

Re: Antalya Very Clean
i hate to burst the dream bubble, but having visited Antalya many times we've found that it is extremely clean and tidy. However this is not because bottles and rubbish don't get get strewn about everywhere like they do here, it is because they have a cleansing department that works continuously morning till night cleaning it all up. Even sweeping pavements and gutters. Antalya is Turkey's riviera and the local council are proud of their town (rightly so). We love it and will visit again soon

The local Belediyesi have enough staff to start a war, if these staff were used properly to do jobs that actually need doing, such as picking up litter, then the local areas would be a lot cleaner. I'm beginning to feel as though I'm living on a rubbish tip at times.

You are living in a rubbish tip all the time, its not the Belediyesi's fault its the inconsiderate people who drop the crap all over the Island, its a disgrace.

Of course it's not the fault of the Belediyesi but they do have the manpower to try to address the problem, I would have thought they would want to keep their town/village clean and tidy. Alsancak seems to be able to improve and enhance the place, I do wish Lapta would try to follow their lead

Seen today in Alsancak for the first time (at least by me) One of those lorries that crawl along the road sweeping up everything in reach with a rotary broom and sprinkling water at the same time. It had a huge flashing arrow on the back to tell you to overtake. Maybe it moves from town to town?
