Old British Pound Coins to boost the RBL Poppy Appeal

The UK Royal British Legion is accepting old British Pound coins to boost the Poppy Appeal. The Kyrenia Branch has an arrangement in place to transfer any old £1 coins to the fund. Please can all expats have a good look in their handbags, drawers and behind the sofa for any old £1 coins and pop them into your nearest Poppy Appeal collection tin – or why not come down to the Girne Belediyesi office between 11am - 3pm on Thursday 26th Oct or Thursday 2nd Nov and give your old coins to the Poppy Girls.

Thu 26 Nov! Maybe you meant Thu 26 Oct as the nearest date in Nov is 23rd and by then, Remembrance will be done and dusted and Christmas events will be foremost in most expats minds.

Well spotted tomsteel - it is 26th Oct (and a repeat appearance 2nd Nov too!!).

Great idea - I have searched the villa and found 6 old £1 coins. Let's all search our old mantelpiece pots / drawers and dig out the old handbags etc and track them down... and then pop them in one of the many collection tins you will find in your local bars (and Creditwest bank - Catalkoy branch certainly).

Still finding old £1 coins around the villa - please pop them into one of the many RBL collection tins across the island as they will massively boost the Poppy Appeal.

Don't forget - you can also put your lovely TL in the tins too!

.... and continue to find the odd old £1 coin lurking in the backs of drawers and 'come in handy' pots..... keep looking people and get them to your nearest Poppy Appeal collection boxes - and we will do the rest in getting them to the Royal British Legion!!
