Large fire near Roman fish ponds

Anyone to the East of Alsancak on the coast side would be well advised to close their windows!

There's a large fire in the area of Lambousa Tombs, near to the Roman fish ponds, (Just West of Mare Monte) and the plume of smoke is heading East.

Looks to be grass / shrubs, etc.

That explains why, when coming out Soulist Café in Alsancak, I remarked on a strong smell of burning grass and wood. No-one else could smell it though.

Probably stubble burning still practised here even though this is now (according to the Biologists Association's Niyazi Turkseven) a discredited activity which does not yield the benefits claimed regards soil and pests. Instead it damages the soil and kills wildlife....
