Very sad to read on Tim's Facebook page that "Due to an act of mindless vandalism the cafe bistro will be closed for a couple of days."
Sad that such vandalism has arrived here. Drove past this morning and the window has been shattered and a lot of the inside chairs were outside.

Somebody must have seen that happening, it's not like Tim's is hidden away, he is on the side of the main road! I do hope the police get to work on this one as fast as they can and nip the whole thing in the bud! Sorry to hear of it Tim - best breakfast anywhere, keep it going please.

Firstly. thank you for the kind comments and support following the shooting incident at Tim’s the other night. Unfortunately, as always, the rumour mill changes and distorts the actual truth, so we thought we should put the record straight. The person in question has been stalking one of our partners for over year, meaning she has had to change her car, move three times and constantly defend malicious lies and a concentrated smear campaign about her character. Despite going to the police every time, he perpetrated one of these acts nothing was done and there has been a concern about escalation for some time, although we did not expect this. On the night in question the individual concerned, who is Turkish although has lived here for many years was verbally abusive before escalating into physical violence and the shooting. The police regrettably, took more than 45 minutes to arrive but did restrain and arrest the perpetrator. We should also add that we have been very touched by the support from the local businesses around us, notably Techno stop and Master Roaster, who not only recorded the incident but like us were shocked at the slow police response to an incident involving a gun. The perpetrator is now safely in custody awaiting trial and the lengthy reports and complaints that have been made will all be taken into account as will CCTV footage of his actions. Since the incident, the local businesses have again been very supportive and helpful as we move forward. What this whole incident highlights are the lack of support and safety from local authorities for both local and expat women when they complain about what is clearly a highly distressing and frightening situation and we feel that this should be raised everywhere so that the stalking laws are re-evaluated. Obviously, this has been a difficult time for everyone involved, and we hope that all of you out there will agree with us that the lack of police support over the last year is a potential contributor to the regrettable incident at Tim’s. Rest assured that we will be open again soon and we would also like to thank our customers who have shown such positive support and if this can be channelled into raising the issue of women’s safety on the Island that can only be a good thing.

Tim, I live 30 kms east of Ozankoy and have no idea where the local 'rozzers' are to your establishment, hence I will not comment on the response time. However, your account of the mounting antagonism to this female by this Turk and the lack of police action regarding it is a real cause for concern and which should be 'officially registered and highlighted' to the Head of the Police via legal representation so it is recorded. Prosecuting counsel should also raise this fact at trial, as police inaction may well have contributed to this escalation of the situation and the ensuing dangerous offence. Good luck with your re-opening.

Tomsteel - thank you for your comments, support and advice. We are in the process of making formal complaints and all the previous visits to the police about the mounting issue have been duly recorded. At least now the truth can come out and the full story will be heard in court, as there is certainly a potential that the lack of action precipitated this last incident.
