The Sky at Night
We have a house in the Ozankoy/Bellapais area. Looking West, when darkness falls, we can see a large, elongated "star", can anyone enlighten us as to what this is please?

If you have a smartphone or tablet, one of these apps might help you identify it:

Stellarium is (IMO) a brilliant program; I have it installed on the laptop that stays in the UK and on the one that comes to the TRNC - each is set to where is needed (UK or Karsiyaka), so I can identify each and every 'heavenly body' that is visible (and those which are not, unless you have a powerful telescope!)
