Transfer wise the best ATM to use
I transferred lira onto my card and used Garanti bank ATM drew out lira from my lira account and it still charged me 2% at the ATM, any tips please
Re: Transfer wise the best ATM to use
We withdraw sterling from our Nationwide account (no charge) using Garanti, then change it here.

I just go to the nearest ATM and draw 2000TL out at a time as that seems to be the maximum I can take out daily. Is that not the best way to do it? No idea what rate I get.

Account in Lira or Sterling?
Name of Bank?
Without knowing those things we can't really advise...

If you have a nationwide account in UK, go to to an atm such as Garanti withdraw your cash in sterling and take it to the exchange and get your sterling changed to to. There is no charge on your nationwide account for taking out sterling. We use Garanti atm against Lemar and in front of kyrenia leather and different atm at Catalkoy lemar

I was asking if any one had a transferwise card, not resolute or Nationwide, sorry pointless replying if you don't have a transferwise card. Sorted it now , cheapest way Ann best rate , transferwise and then use card to buy stuff no charge

Re: Transfer wise the best ATM to use
This is the first time that you have made it clear that you are using a card called 'TransferWise'.Mike and Sue wrote:I was asking if any one had a transferwise card, not resolute or Nationwide, sorry pointless replying if you don't have a transferwise card. In the title of this thread, you wrote 'Transfer wise' - two separate words, with no capitalisation on the 'wise', and nothing to indicate that it was a trade name.
I thought that you were simply using the words 'Transfer wise'as an expression, meaning 'relating to transfers', because I had never heard of a Company called 'TransferWise'.
Can you now appreciate that we were talking at cross purposes? At no point did you ask "Has anyone got a 'TransferWise card'?" If you had done so, then I would most certainly not have wasted the time and effort trying to help you!
Have a nice day

"Doh" indeed ...
I've just looked back over threads on the Forum, using the Search facility, and found over 20 posts which mention TransferWise (albeit with the name formatted in a variety of ways ) - and one of the posts was mine
I really had no recollection of it though! - and judging by some of the other responses on this thread, neither did a few other people, hence the comments about Revolut & Nationwide...
Talk about 'Eats shoots and leaves'

Re: Transfer wise the best ATM to use
Thanks for the reply, I didn't have the time to articulate precise grammar and branding, I just asked does anyone have a Transferwise account. I have sorted the best method, moved lira onto my card at 9 to the pound, the best and no cost option is to pay for goods or services in lira on the card. This way , no fees and I get to use my liras on the card.Keithcaley wrote:This is the first time that you have made it clear that you are using a card called 'TransferWise'.Mike and Sue wrote:I was asking if any one had a transferwise card, not resolute or Nationwide, sorry pointless replying if you don't have a transferwise card. I have been looking into the this.Mike and Sue wrote:I transferred lira onto my card and used Garanti bank ATM drew out lira from my lira account and it still charged me 2% at the ATM, any tips please
Pros: Good exchange rate
Less hassle trying to find an exchange bureau
Cons: Transfer fee
For instance, today I exchanged £200 @ 7.40 = 1480tl
If I did it by Transferwise: £200 @ 7.66 = 1505tl less a fee £3.77 (£3.77 @ 7.4 = 27.90tl). Loss of 2.90tl
Or am I wrong?
