Re: Cyprus booking car hire
I have used them all summer and they have been fantastic.
I have had friends here and been to quite a few weddings in Europe this summer so have used them quite a bit. Not one problem. Cheap and reliable transfers. Best price on the island by far.
Very cheap and honest car hire too. I had originally used a well known different car rental company that begins with P. However, after booking a car with them, they turned up and added an extra £15 on top of the original charge claiming it was a delivery fee even though there was no mention at the time of order.

Do you have the website address by any chance?

When you google it, their name doesn’t appear. I usually just come to this forum then click the banner at the top or click in the sticky advert.

Failing that, try using the search facility situated in the top left corner of the site.Keithcaley wrote:Enough, already!Trigger wrote:When you google it, their name doesn’t appear. I usually just come to this forum then click the banner at the top or click in the sticky advert.

OK, so they also make an additional charge for delivery. Do they put an amount of petrol in the tank which is normally extra and payable on delivery? What is the insurance coverage - as Lhasa asks - and do they charge extra for CDW? Presume not fully comprehensive like most of car hire in TRNC.

I think the post above regarding extra £15 refers to the company that begins with P and not to Cyprus Booking Car Hire. The staff at Cyprus Booking are most helpful and their office is in the building behind Electocur just off the main Girne/Lefcosia roundabout. Go talk to them direct if you have any questions or problems they are really good.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Yeah, £15 delivery charge was not cyprus booking.
Insurance out here usually covers all body work but not tyres. This can be purchased for a few extra quid.

Sorry waddo, I did not read your message properly. Not sure how many car hire firms begin with a P. However, cannot be Pacific as I have used them many times and they have never charged a delivery fee to Esentepe. Brilliant service from them when car developed a fault in April.
When booking a vehicle, all car hire firms should make it quite clear in advance what insurance is included.

Re: Cyprus booking car hire
This is a reply I had from them regarding CWD, this may help.
My visitors did hire a car from them, they delivered to the villa on time, no problems, would definitely use again
*** Collision waiver insurance is included to our prices but 500 Euro excess is the rule of insurance company. This is same for every car hire company. They may charge you extra money for collision waiver but once you make an accident they ask you to pay for it
***The price includes insurance. All of our cars are fully insured but we have 500 Euro's excess which is the rule of the insurance company that we work with. We don't ask you to pay this amount in advance. If you make any accident you will be responsible to pay maximum of 500 Euro's no matter how big the accident is unless you are drunk
We can deliver the car to your address for free. ****
I did query the CWD as I didn't think this was the case with other car hire firms, but ran out of time to confirm either way.
We had to book online and pay in advance, which we hadn't done before, but as I say cannot fault them, and the car was brand new.

Keith, fyi they are part of MTStur, you will see sign where Electrokur at Girne Roundabout.
My brother used their car hire service in June. No charge for delivery, no charge for petrol - tank was low, very clean car. Not sure about Insurance so best contact them, nice friendly staff who will be happy to help with any queries: 0533 876 54 32

I think the rules must have changed then. Earlier in the year I used them, no delivery charge. Used them again, there was a delivery charge. I asked the guy why it had changed, he gave me the shrug. Fair enough I said, will use you this time but not again.SussexBoy wrote:Sorry waddo, I did not read your message properly. Not sure how many car hire firms begin with a P. Just done another transfer booking with them... same price as it’s been all summer. 219Tl from Esentepe to Larnaca airport... about £28 on today’s exchange rate, so credit to them for that too

I see Pacific now state on their website:
I do not know when these charges were introduced, but I have not previously paid for delivery in Esentepe, perhaps because our bookings for taxi transfer and car hire coincided. We offer free rental car delivery in the Kyrenia area and out to about 10 miles either side. For locations further from our Kyrenia base, such as the historic city of Famagusta in the east, or Lefke and the Guzelyurt district in the west, we do charge a small delivery fee of GBP£20.

Re: Cyprus booking car hire
Thanks for all the replies, i have been in touch with them as I thought the prices were too good to be true!!
They charge for delivery, 30tl one way & 50tl two ways...hardly going to break the bank!
They said the cars are fully insured with a 500euro excess.
Fuel is return it with the tank at the same level.
Going on the comments on this thread I will be using them in Sept, will let you know how i get on!!

I don't understand the excess, CDW is collision damage waiver and means you don't pay anything in the event of an accident, we have always used Bird and when our son had an accident that was his fault he did not have to pay anything

Re: Cyprus booking car hire
My understanding is that CDW is the equivalent of what, in the UK, is known as 'Comprehensive' insurance - at least, the part that applies to your liability in the event of an accident for which you are judged to be responsible.niceone wrote:I don't understand the excess, CDW is collision damage waiver and means you don't pay anything in the event of an accident, we have always used Bird and when our son had an accident that was his fault he did not have to pay anything
In the UK, you can have 'Comprehensive' cover either with or without an excess, so presumably the same applies to CDW, and, as I read it, the 'Cyprus Booking' CDW which comes 'for free' as part of the booking fee, specifies an excess of 500 Euros.
You may, perhaps, be able to opt for a 'zero excess' on the policy by paying extra - did your son pay for 'zero excess'?
There may well be an insurance expert reading this, and I would be happy for them to correct my misconceptions if I'm wrong!

Well, it certainly sounds as though he got a really good deal there then, if it was all included in the basic cost.niceone wrote:NO He did not
What company did he rent from? I'd certainly be interested.

Message 19, Bird garage.
Certainly when we used them (albeit some years ago) and had a dubious 50/50 accident we need had to pay an excess, just told 'no problem'!

Re: Cyprus booking car hire
Hello everyone,
Let me give you an information about our companies insurance policy.
There are 2 kinds of insurance in North Cyprus.
One of them is "3rd party insurance" which is compulsory insurance. Every car has to have this insurance. This one pays for only opponents damage but not the car you drive.
The other one is called "full insurance" but it is not actually fully covered for rental cars. The insurance company that we work with is asking for maximum of 500 Euros excess. If you make an accident with our fully insured cars and the damage is costs 1500 Euros, insurance pays us 1000 Euros. Also they don't pay for tyres at all.
Excess rule may be different for every car hire company. It depends on the insurance company they work with and the relationship between them.*
We used to have full insurance for all our cars but now we decided to make full insurance for new ones and 3rd party insurance for old ones. That means the insurance policy depands on the car you want to hire. If the car is 2014 model or newer then it has full insurance.
Insurance policy here is way different then it is in the UK.
*In most cases our insurance company do not even ask for that 500 Euros and pays for everything because of our good relationship with them. In this case we don't charge anything to costumers at all. But we can not guarantee this as they have the right to take it.
About delivery fee: We never charge any delivery fee for cyprusbooking.com costumers. Maybe there was a misunderdtanding. Please do not forget to mention that you are cyprusbooking.com costumer. It is free, no matter where you are.
I am the owner of cyprusbooking.com and I tried to answer all of your questions. Please contact me from "info@cyprusbooking.com" if you have more question as it is very hard for me to follow up with the form during work. I will be happy to help you.
Regards,
Durdu Malyalı
