I haven't seen this myself and it could obviously be hearsay, but I'm told under the Social and Cultural events there is something to do with the Pets Party, or more correctly, the Animal Rights Society. This is a fully fledged political party in the RoC. (albeit with laudable demands ) However I can't believe the BRS want to be seen to be joining or recommending them. Maybe I'm wrong and cross border is the way to go, but with a political party?

Are you a member of the BRS? if so, contact it to view your concern. If not, what business is a BRS initiative to you? You obviously have your view and I laud you for that but attempting to secure support via this forum is, in my opinion, totally wrong. Express your concern directly to the organisation. Personally, any political party attempting to improve animal welfare demands support - wherever it originates from, be that RoC, India, China, Korea, UK, TRNC et al.

If you mean this, make your own mind up:-
Pets Party – Gem’s Silver Jewellery Shop – Karaoğlanoğlu – Saturday 3rd November from 2.00 pm
This charity event is being run by ‘Gems’ in support of animal welfare and in conjunction with the Cyprus Animal Rights Society. Free cocktails and snacks will be available and the professional Italian Tenor, Teodoro De Castillo, will perform live during the afternoon. The Gems shop will be open during the party and 15% from every purchase on the day will be donated to the Cyprus Animal Rights Society. A charity auction will also be held.

The pet’s party is being run by the Kıbrıs Hayvan Hakları Derneği, (Cyprus Animal Rights Society) nothing to do with the south.
