Water tank towers

Are these made house specific or manufactured. I refer to those independent from the actual property and stand alone. They hold the hot and cold water tanks and solar panels. A friend of mine had theirs collapse in the recent high winds and need replacement. Looking at mine recently I noticed they were swaying considerably and after 15 years will probably need some attention if not replacement. Any ideas folks. Thanks

Depends how you live and how often you suffer from electricity cuts, also how often and how much you use your tank heater for hot water! Mine was badly sited, not true in the vertical plane, had poor solar panels on it and the tank was older than god! I tore it all down and put everything at ground level so I could service it all myself. Chucked out the solar panels and put a small gas powered hot water heat in the system which gives me more hot water than I can use 24/7/365 (provided the electric is on). I lost the ability to have gravity fed cold/hot water in the event of a power cut but as we are retired our time is our own. We have a small household generator which I have run three times in the last eight years - just to be sure it still works. Now no ugly water tower, tanks easy to clean out, pumps easy to service and well happy with the system. This will not suit everyone (flat dwellers can't do this) and you need to plan and have space but it works for us much better than a dodgy tower. Just a thought as you can do all the work yourself with a little bit of effort.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
