Re: Tanking of walls to stop damp
Carringtons did our VIlla about 6 years ago.
They removed a meter of plaster externally and internally covering the entire perimeter of the house and then removed a meter of tiles covering the same area.A rubber solution was applied to all exposed area’s before replasteting and relaying the tiles.
This was a big and messy job which was quite expensive but it worked and todate has solved the damp issue which st the time was quite serious .
Having previously spent a fortune on other methods this one actual worked.

Re: Tanking of walls to stop damp
Hi
We hope you will find this information helpful...
There is no solution for this problem by waterproofing the inside of your walls, doing so may stop the problem for a short time but it is definitely not a solution to the problem. The waterproofing solutions that people attempt this with here are not negative and positive pressure waterproofing meaning that they will only stop water from the finished side and as the water ingress is behind the painted on product it will push the waterproofing off over time.
The damp in your walls is usually due to water ingress in the sand layer beneath your floors which is then drawn up the wall as rising damp (usually to a maximum os 1.2m). The worst areas for this is usually where your walls adjoin exterior open terraces or balconies, it is here where the solutions must start by preventing water from getting in.
We have a range of solutions to suit different budgets and have been doing this kind of repair here successfully for over 10 years, Im sure our customers will agree...
