I appreciate this has been asked before, the most recent times I found was posted last July.
Can someone tell me the current opening times for the immigration office in Lefkosa.
Thanks in advance.

Well last Friday, when I posted that it took us only 15 minutes from start to finish, certainly wasn’t 2016. Not was it 2016 when I posted the opening times in an earlier reply.

Someone should have gone to Specsavers!!!

We went yesterday - despite the info - they closed at 12.15 - we had our ticket (which we got at 11.30) and so did 2 others - but it was only when we noticed that noone had gone in or come out in a while that we went to ask. Closed - because the cashier closes at 12 so they do too.
They re opened at 1.30.

PS there was a very loud argument with another couple who were being refused as they could not show sufficient funds to live here. He had proof of 3000$ here - but they were refused and their paperwork withheld and a warning that the "authorities" would be investigating how they remain here with so little money. They were told to come back with new paperwork/application and to get bank statement print outs from their own Country bank to prove that they had sufficient money .

That's a new one. Who determines what is sufficient? We certainly don't show our UK details. Never have and never will!!

Application for a Temporary Residency Permit. Initial applications (and renewals for those aged under 60) should be made to the Immigration Section at local Police stations. Opening hours are typically Mon-Fri 0815-1145 but will vary, especially in the summer. The following documentation is required

· Local bank statement showing holder's name and latest balance. (Typically you need £10,000 or TL equivalent, per person)

That's going to prove difficult for some. I know plenty of people, who keep the absolute minimum in the TRNC. i.e. they draw money out of their UK accounts on a monthly or weekly basis and live a very comfortable life. Can we assume the people who were refused could not show proof of ownership of a property?

We've been doing residency for 14 years and have had to produce bank statements every time even though we own a property here, it's not a new requirement. It's to show that you can support yourselves, having property ownership doesn't necessarily prove that. Perhaps those receiving pensions, etc can show statements showing their monthly income and/or bank statements from their main bank.

We have always shown a Natwest bank statement showing our pensions payments and had no problems.

Just shows just how people receive differing treatment. We were only asked once for proof of finance in this country. An woman we all used to call "face ache" asked for UK bank statement and I repeated what we had been told by the then BRS committee that they had no right to enquire as to what we had in UK and I quietly repeated that to her. She made a phone call there and then, and that was the end of the matter. Mind you this was back in the days, when you had to be prepared to take a packed lunch with you. !! Obviously things have changed a lot since then.
