My attempt at cutting road accidents. The notice in the rear window of my car says 'Gotume bukadar heralde opmek isten' Translated to English, ‘Since you so close my arse, you must want to kiss it.

To some locals that could deem to be offensive.
Choose your spouse, friend, relative, in difficult days. On a good day, no one shows their purity.

My (Police) driving instructor used to ask "Why does that car in front insist on driving so close to you?

Absolutely agree with your view. However, those who do might just back away so they do not have to read it, hence intention achieved

I agree with you Dalartokat but.... Nothing wrong with offence if it saves me and / or others from injury or death. I don't actually like the sign but I like less and become scared of those who think it OK to almost touch my rear bumper with their front bumpers at high speed.

Just put the “hazard warning lights” on -guaranteed to confuse the idiot (ex-pats as well as locals) behind you.

Always works for me.

I tap the brakes, if that doesn't work then slow down making sure that they can't overtake!

Actually I like it when the locals put their hazards on. When I was coming back from Girne to Alsancak and the dual carriage way was lethal with rain making it dangerous and some cars were shooting by with water everywhere, two locals cars suddenly slowed down and drove side by side with their hazards on, effectively stopping idiots from behaving like cretins. I have no idea who they were and they were certainly not police but it was such a sensible procedure and I applaud them, whoever they were.

You would do better with a pretend camera! If it was a canon then the person behind would only take a picture of it with the mobile phone he/she is using at the time!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

We used to dream of having a “revenge mobile”.

Oil slicks or tacks out of the back for tailgaters. Big knife thing on the sides for people who cut you up and drive (or park) too close. Big sharp sticky out things at the front for those you’d love to ram after cutting you up then stamping on the brakes at junctions. Oh and great big high level bright lights for those who don’t dip either behind or in front of you.

Aggressive? Moi? Perish the thought.

What would you have on your revenge mobile?

If the objective is to reduce stupidity from drivers and reduce deaths and injury caused by stupid driving then what you need to do is to stop putting airbags and crumple zones in cars and just mandate that all cars must have a 8 inch spike that extends out from the centre of the steering wheel towards the driver. This imo almost certainly would lead to less bad driving and less fatalities and accidents caused by it than without such spikes. Anyway it will not be much longer before we have driving control taken away from us anyway.

Tailgating by LORRIES ,especially on the Lapta/Karsiyaka straight is particularly dangerous. Maybe the authorities could meet with the Hauliers to impress upon them that steep fines would be imposed for this sort of thing. It would help if he General Public noted REG Nos when possible and reported them to a designated HOTLINE!!!

YES It's a start. Complaints about the way BUSES and TAXI'S are being driven can now be referred to a designated Hotline, ALO 1181. Excellent.

Have you tried dialling the number?

I have!

It doesn't work for me - not even if I stick '0392' in front...

I'm not saying that the information is wrong, but some advice on how to use it would help...

Thanks in advance

Hector

I've found that having a webcam in the rear window (as well as the front) works well

Hi Keithcaley, Sorry I haven't tried the No myself yet. Apparently, there should be an answering service during Office Hours, or you can leave a message out of hours. Has only supposedly come into force today , so there may be "teething troubles"!!
