The Education Ministers of TRNC and Turkey held a joint news conference yesterday to announce the opening of the first Theological *Anadolu* High School in the TR of NC - it will admit it first students in September.
As you may or may not know, there is already one theological high school in North Cyprus - the Hala Sultan High School in Haspolat, that opened its doors 4 year ago, near the big mosque there. This new school though will be an "Anadolu" school - it means there will be more emphasis on learning English ... as well as an emphasis on religious studies of course. As with the Hala Sultan School and the rather ostentatious Haspolat mosque, the funding for this new school will come from Ankara.
A TC friend of ours suggested the opening of the school was a reflection on the changing demigraphics here in Northern Cyprus, in that Turkish Cypriots, on the whole, would not want to send their children to such as a school, whereas the mainlanders would be more inclined to do so.
In any case, even though the opening of this school will not directly affect members of this forum, I though it appropriate to let you know how things are changing ... and let you draw your own conclusions.
By the way, I have attached a photo, taken from the Facebook page of the first theological high school (ie. Hala Sultan) - it shows their first graduates.

Re: Second theological high school to be opened in the TR of
A group of delightful young ladies visited St Andrew’s church a few weeks ago and said they were theological students.
They asked if they could stay for the service, which of course they were welcome to do, and seemed to appreciate that.
Then just about every one of them wanted a picture taken with the Acting Chaplain - not surprising since he’s such a handsome chap himself (and good value, as they say in Nor’n Ir’n)
