Hello Kibkom members,
On Sunday the 4th of August, Karsiyaka Turtle Watch will be hosting the annual Raft Race. The 2019 Raft Race will be held on behalf of SPOT - Society Protection of Turtles at Guzelyali Beach, Karsiyaka.
We invite you all to attend. The Raft Race costs 50tl to enter a team of 4 to participate in the event. Each team MUST consist of 4 competent swimmers, all need to be at least 16 years of age. One team member MUST be the raft Captain and be 21 years of age at the time of the race. Rafts MUST be constructed from discarded beach waste, this it to highlight ocean garbage and the damage to the marine life and eco systems. For more details and rules please contact Karsiyaka Turtle Watch event organiser on: 0533 873 9704.
We will also be having a raffle with lots of fantastic prizes and a bric a brac stall. The turtle Shack will also be open offering the sale of numerous turtle related product such as t-shirts, reusable bags, reusable drinks bottles, gifts and jewellery etc. All proceeds will go to the conservation of marine turtles here in Northern Cyprus.
It is a great event for all and a good way to meet volunteers members of the turtle patrol teams who will be on hand to offer advice and information on marine sea turtles and the raft race is always fun to spectate if you don't want to participate in the actual raft race itself.
Best Wishes,
Karsiyaka Turtle Watch
