I had a look at the link but failed to find any reference to "Greek island". I could only find "Cyprus". Would you direct me to the contentious comment so I can decide whether I need to get down to Specsavers p.d.q.

I couldn’t see either. The only comment made is in the comments section at the bottom of the page by someone called “Lancashire lad”

No, you clown. It is in the Republic of Cyprus (RoC). The fact that Greek is the first language does not make the RoC Greek territory.

Suppose it all depends where the journalist was educated lol.
20 years ago working in the U.K. (before ever thought of moving here). I worked with young woman who was born in England but her father was Turkish Cypriot. She was saying how she had an argument at school with a geography teacher who said Cyprus was a Greek island and wouldn't have it at all that it was split.
