Water Tank Level Indicator

Anyone know if I can purchase a water level indicator for my roof water tank?

I have seen Ultrasonic ones on sale on eBay in the UK for around 30 odd quid, thought about bringing one over in my hand luggage.

Or there is an option of buying some float switches and rigging one up myself??

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Check out You Tube ... lots of ideas there.

Simples. Make yourself a large fishing float with a long stick at the top. Small hole in lid to allow stick to protrude and bob's your uncle! Stick vanishes, tank empty, stick visible, water in tank!

Course you may have a problem seeing the stick if your tank is on your roof - lol. Sorry all my tanks are ground based.

You may laugh, but Waddo has it spot on. Further up the hill from ours is th water depot for this end of Alsancak and that I exactly the method the Belediye use and have done for years, couldn't be simpler.

Actually sounds like a good idea, at least it won't require batteries.

I only want a rough indication of 'how full' my tank is, simples!

Glue a ping-pong ball on the top end of the stick to make it more visible

Paint the ball orange as well and put a bell in it if you are hard of hearing - lol. It can go on and on this one........

The good thing about the Belediye water depot means that we can take a short walk and check on the local water ourselves and not have to wait until we have rationing to know that things are going to be a bit dodgy. And NO, there isn't a bell or an orange ping pong ball, just a piece of metal about 5ins long, welded to the upright.
