It looks like that's about to change, new regulations from October 23rd:

UNDER 18’S YEARS ARE REQUIRED TO BE REGISTERED
Interior Minister Baybars reminded that up to now the children of those with work permits under the age of 18 were not registered. Baybars said that this major deficiency also caused various problems from education to health planning within the country. The new regulation now states that children under the age of 18 who live with their parents who are legally in the country must be registered when applications to work or reside are made.

So, now it appears all humans of non Cypriot origin and our canines must be registered. It'll be felines next! Do non Cypriots normally resident in countries other than the TRNC also have to register? If not, it makes a mockery of the TRNC Government's statement the new mass registration requirement is necessary for future planning purposes. Methinks, despite Prime Minister Tatar's statement he welcomes expats, this is yet another cash-generating scheme against 'yabanci para inekleri.'
