Would like to ask if any one is managing to live without a direct electric supply..
If so for how long ?
Appliances that work best on solar back up generator etc...
Advice and tips to a possible new comer considering purchasing a remote building.

We're off grid and were supplied by Cyprus Solar, Nicosia, whom I would heartedly recommend! Reasonable prices and excellent services. We've been on solar power now for nearly 5 years, and we would not change a thing. obviously with severe weather, which is what we are having at the moment, we use generator back up; easy peasy and well worth having; but at the end of the day we have NO electricity bills, which is absolutely brilliant.
if you'd like to come and see our system, we are near Alagadi/Esentepe, you are more than welcome. Best thing we ever did, but then we didn't have a chance at getting electricity anyway.

I seem to remember that another forum member, dippersgirl, was also off-grid in the Karpaz. Haven't seen her posting on here for a while though.

we live (also in alagadi) off grid--
until today we did not need a generator back up. but thats all up to the pv generator size, the use and the battery storage. and the sunshine available.

off grid systems can be DC coupled, AC coupled or DC-AC coupled. the best design has to evaluated.
if you are interested to see systems or learn more, pm me.

thanks, kibsolar 1999

We did consider it, but in the end did not follow it up, but our friends here in Dipkarpaz have just off grid electricity. They do not live here permanently but come here 4 times a year and are happy with their system.

just to mention.

of course, the connection price from kibtek must be taken into account... and it can be a lot.

but .... if the electricity is close... then in general the kWh from an off grid system, seen over a couple of years, is more expensive as one kWh from Kibtek.

off grid you may consider when the kibtek connection is impossible or does cost a bit too much...

best Regards

Thanks everyone..
I’m still researching and up to now..the expense of initially set up costs are proving mighty expensive...
However I’m still researching....
