Visible for 2 minutes only - started off over the sea and headed almost directly for the moon.

If you can see a bright star over to the West, you're looking at the planet Venus - AKA 'the evening star' (even tho' it's not really a star! )

Me and my gf have had many many crazy discussions about this star/planet as to what it is, sputnik -googlesat-or just some other satellite and we are both wrong (:Z)

For anyone who is interested in sky-gazing, two (IMO) very good (free) programs are Celestia and Stellarium -
Celestia is a "free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions" (from anywhere in the universe), while Stellarium shows the sky (stars, nebulae, satellites, etc.) in real-time from wherever you choose on Earth - I've used both for many years. A note - with Stellarium, IF you have a problem (due to video card/chip), select Stellarium MESA Mode.

Missed the ISS last night but I was up at 0330 and looked up at that big beautiful moon almost directly overhead, spectacular, reflecting all that's happening and said things will get back to normal.
