Yesterday it was BRT who were cut off and were forced into a repayment agreement before reconnection.

Who is to blame for this farcical situation where the unions are debt collecting where the management apparently were unable to do so? As Kib Tek is state owned the questions must be asked to why the government want to privatise the organisation. It appears 100% to be the employees of the government who have allowed the mass debt to accumulate so the should all be fired asap and unbiased managers put in place. Kib Tek may not be as bankrupt as the government would have us believe but for some reason, for which I better not make comment on the grounds I may be locked up!!!!!

Sorry I know I am blonde & from Essex but this article does not make sense, how have AKSA run up this debt when they are supplying electricity, surely it should be the other way round as Kibtek do the invoicing?

Obviously the union is against privatisation of KIB-TEK. That is why they have taken it into their own hands to force payment of the huge outstanding bills. The government sat and watched for a while, reacted angrily when their own ministries were chased down. At the end they followed suit by changing the law to reduce exemptions for state institutions.

There is little/no news about the power strike earlier.
As far as I can make out AKSA use the national grid to run machinery to produce and distribute electricity. They then sell the electricity they produce but don,t pay for the electricity they use from KIB-TEK.
Because he government is trying to encourage privatisation they have been given lots of latitude, but the unions have cottoned on to this recently and basically treated them like any other major non payer.

Sorry guys, dont know how to edit my post earlier.

Looks like the article initially had it the wrong way round.
Its KIB-TEK that owed AKSA for unpaid electricity supplied.

Whichever way around the debt is in any other country peoples heads would be rolling long before now for not sorting it.
