Maybe this time the El Sen guys shouldn't reconnect it after just a few hours - this might be more persuasive in getting the Cratos owners to pay their bill ...

Do El Sen reconnect or does the management do it so they do not upset people?
This whole excercise is farcical that a trades union can collect cash for unpaid debts where the managers are unable to. One has to come to only one conclusion as to what is happening and why Kib Tek is in debt.

My guess is there are behind-the-scene dealings between the Cratos owners and the government, and so the Kibtek managers have to toe the line ...whereas the union guys don't.cyprusishome wrote:This whole exercise is farcical that a trades union can collect cash for unpaid debts where the managers are unable to.
Maybe it's somthing similar to what's happening at Near East University. They too have run up a massive electricity bill, yet at the same time, the government owes quite a sum to Near East Bank.
Maybe though the government is actually encouraging these large institutions not to pay their electricity bills as further justification to privatise an "unprofitable" Kibtek ...

You stole my words on the issue of government interference.
Considering that TRNC is bankrupt how can the government allow this situation to continue where private companies can effectively say they are not going to pay their debts. Certainly on paper nobody with more than one brain cell will not pay any cash to government to take it over but IMO privatised utilities do not work to the benefit of their customers so I fully support the actions of the unions.
One thing for certain this will all end in tears.

The government's plan must be to privatise KibTek, and, to ensure the "new" company starts with a clean slate, to write off all government electricity debts outstanding to KibTek. If, in the meantime, the govt. virtually encourages private businesses to run up their own bills to KibTek, then the govt. will not appear in such a bad light as if they were the only outstanding debtor.
