I'm doubtful that they will allow Self-Quarantine again, after some people broke their isolation. As far as I can make out, that's why they re-introduced compulsory quarantine.

OK so what are the rules regarding masks?
In Alsancak this morning some people walking wearing masks most not, some people driving cars (Alone) wearing masks, most not.

So what are the current ever-changing rules re masks?

Who is going to 'police ' the rule as the driving when on the phone or helmets when driving motor bikes are widely ignored.

I don't see me driving alone, in my car, as a public place. It's too dangerous when wearing specs, which can get steamed up. It's there though, for putting on if stopped by police.

I'm not wearing in my car and if i recall the police directing traffic on Lefkoşa road aren't either.

Saw the best ever the other day, guy walking down the road wearing his mask on his elbow..... just in case he feels a sneeze or cough coming on I guess! Probably has a crash helmet too which he wears on his elbow.!

Elizabeth, I hate to admit it but we can teach by example. I walked towards a small business in Alsancak this morning. Two of the workmen and two others chatting over coffee were sitting outside. As I approached all four men reached out and put their masks on (there was a large notice insisting that masks must be worn at all times) and kept them on until I got back in my car and drove off. I guess that's better than nothing.

Given the amount of offenders of whatever the daily law is, I do not think the Law Courts or prison capacity could cope!
My suggestion would be to bring back the Stocks and for persistent violators the Pillory, plenty of over-ripe ditched tomatoes for ammunition at today's Wednesday market!
This would ease the tension of the over pious, righteous brigade that can do no wrong and never break any laws!!!

We drove past Jessics at around 6.30 pm and it was packed out, loads of people standing close together gathered around tables and I didn't see anyone wearing a mask. When are people going to realise that the only way to avoid spreading this virus is to follow the rules that are in place, if not the future may become very difficult for many people.
I get tired of hearing how the local people are ignoring the rules, which some of them are, but there is no excuse for ex pats to be doing it, I doubt if many of them are going to be crippled financially if we have another shutdown. Come on folks, use some common sense and try to work with the Government of the country we have chosen to live in to keep us all safe.

Elizabeth the rules are 6 to a table so observing while driving that must look like groups. .Staff to serve you at the tables. Denis and muz stand to lose a lot with comments that they are not following procedure set by the government.shut down and fines.
Yes you take a risk going but its your choice. Wednesday in catalkoy the police turned up to check and removed their masks on arrival after checking the book , tables, seats at the bar etc

There were cars parked everywhere so clearly there were lots of people there and we saw groups of people gathering around tables where there were people sitting in groups. By all means enjoy your Bingo if that's your thing but follow the guidelines re social distancing. If this virus is not controlled there will be many businesses that suffer besides this one.

Restaurants should follow the regulations and hopefully most will, to the letter.
That doesn't mean though that you personally feel those regulations are enough to keep you safe.
So if you don't feel safe then turn around and walk out.

Personally I think the odds on getting seriously ill or dying from this virus are very low. That doesn't mean that if I'm in a supermarket and an aisle is particularly busy I will go down that aisle because the odds are on my side.
I will wait until the aisle is empty.
1 in whatever isn't as good odds as 0 in whatever.
Just use common sense for yourselves and empathy for others.

I could see that the tables were spaced but the people standing around the tables were not, that is the point and I know what I saw.

There is one very safety conscious pharmacist that I always go to and she, like me, believes that money, both paper and metal is probably the muckiest stuff you handle in a day. Hence she sprays the money she takes from you and before it goes in the till, and sprays any change you may require. Also, I noticed this morning the the Metropole Supermarket is encouraging people to download the "cashless" app. I stood and read the instructions twice and needed a second cup of coffee to unscramble my brain, it seemed so complicated.

How can you judge what is happening in an established buisness from moving vehicle at least 5m away from the front of the property, looking through a line of parked cars.
As the truth, probably get 30 plus customers to refute your statement, therefore slander under the new law.

I normally drive from Catalkoy out to Jessic’s on a Friday - when there is no F1 - because it is one place where I feel safe as the staff/owner there stick by the rules. Their own family’s normally go there on Fridays as well and regardless of profit I doubt any of them would put their family’s at risk. Last Friday I stayed home - my picture will not be on your wet film when you have it processed - because I expected lots of people to attend. The parking does not lend itself to easy parking for large numbers of vehicles either, another reason I stayed away. Normally, at the time you are reporting, Bingo has finished and people are saying their goodbyes to friends, which would account for your assumption that many people were crowding around the tables! Social distancing is always observed by the staff there and table service is the only way you will get to eat/drink. It is one of the very few places I feel safe and I will continue to support the establishment as they support so many local initiatives.

I don't understand why one poster is deluded about their 'drive by ' but there is a law about slander . Apparently to be enforced if a person or buisness is accused of something unproven.

The person now claims to have a photo! From a moving car ,now gone very quiet.
The law on deformation or slander is very specific. If you cause a loss to the person or buisness then you Will be prosecuted.
