Advice needed Fridgefreezer problems.
We purchased a new Fridgefreezer from Arcelic at the end of October last year and in the last 3 or 4 weeks we noticed that the white interior was getting covered in a black coating we wiped it off but it keeps coming back so we phoned Arcelic who on thursday of this week duly sent an engineer to look at the problem. He removed the back panel inside the fridge part and this was absolutely Jet black,he borrowed a clean white cloth from us wiped it clean and put it back saying he had not seen anything like it before but there was nothing wrong with the Fridge,on his report he merely said he had cleaned it.
Yesterday the interior of the fridge was again turning black so we went to the shop In Girne where we purchased it from. The lady we spoke to phoned the service department who told her that the dirt had been caused by a burning candle in the interior of the fridge!!!!!What an excuse both the service engineer and the lady in the shop were arrogant and rude!!
My question is does anyone know what is causing this problem as we are going to there office in Lefkosa next week and it would be nice to have some ideas to put to them.BBB

I'm certainly no expert, but it seems to me that it is not cold enough and is growing black mould. Perhaps the thermostat has packed up. Maybe put a thermometer in there and check. About a year after we got a new fridge freezer, I noticed that some of the freezer contents were very slightly defrosted, this turned out to be a faulty fan.

Re: Advice needed Fridgefreezer problems.
Can't think what the problem is but just wanted to warn you about the company in question - I had a F/F from them which I asked them to re-hand the doors on prior to delivery ...... all was fine for a month and then I noticed that the freezer door was not closing properly - after losing 3 freezer loads of food and 3 visits by their engineers I was then told by them that I wasn't closing the door in the correct manner and that was what was causing the problem!!!! I asked for a lesson in how to close the door "properly" and was duly shown how to do it - I copied this closing operation exactly and the same problem occured. I went into the store and spoke to the Manager and all I got was the Cyprus Shrug and a refusal to replace the item!! Early the following day the F/F was delivered back to them and placed outside their shop blocking the front door with a note stating what had happened. Thankfully I never heard another thing from them and have never set foot in their shop again. I eventually disposed of all my Arcelik white goods (installed by my builder so I had no choice) and replaced all of them with Bosch goods.
I wish you luck and hope for a successful outcome .....

BigbadBob ....
Surly you must have a guarantee with your Fridge/Freezer
The electrically items I've bought here have always had a guarantee
Good Luck.... Don't give up, thats what they want.

Bob.
If you have no joy resolving the problem, try TRNC Consumer Association on 0392 228 4683 and ask for their advise/help.

Which shop did you use? We use the one near wednesday market, bought 4 items with no problem, other than an issue with manual being in Turkish and was given full instruction by young lady in shop.
All of the shops signed "Arcelik" are franchised and not owned by Arcelik so the problems experienced with the appliances are not directly to do with the shop.

Msg6 yes we have a guarantee but I think the problem is that the engineer does not know his job and actually inferred that we had used a candle in the fridge and that was the cause and of course our fault what an arrogant wally he was but we are not giving up on this one .The funny thing is the freezer part is not a problem which is strange but I am certain a refrigeration engineer will know the answer.Msg7 thanks for that which we may need to use but Ahmet is now involved and as you know he will not back down so watch this space!!Bob.

Msg 8 we used the same shop as you and I have to say at the point of sale they were very helpful however now there is a problem they are being evasive, arrogant, and just do not want to know this has of course altered our view of them and we will never buy another Arcelik product and my advice is be very wary of them.

Re: Advice needed Fridgefreezer problems.
Who is Ahmet please?
All of my electrical items are Arcelik, either from new or second hand and I always found them reliable until recently when things have started to need replaced.
My husband bought a microwave from the belideye branch, we tested it with a jug of water set for 1minute on HIGH.
It was 'pulsing' as it does on defrost, after 3 minutes it hadn't stopped and the water was barely warm.
My husband explained the problem to the girl in the shop, she said 'there is nothing wrong, this is a slow model' ???
We tested it again, this time for 10 minutes on HIGH, the outer casing became extemely hot and again it was 'pulsing'.
My husband took it back to the shop where the manager convinced him that there must be a fault with our plug as the microwave is okay.
Although I have used the same plug for previous microwaves and other things, we tested it on other plugs and the same happened.
I would just like my money back so that I can go elsewhere but the manager insists there is no problem.
Where do I go from here?

Msg12 Ahmet is a Cypriot friend of ours who is going to have a word on our behalf but puppylover has mentioned the consumer association in message 6 and if we have to we will also get them involved.

GiantJ
Hubby did just that but the manager convinced him that it was okay.
I am going to get the engineers in to prove that it does not work properly and then take it back and ask for my money back.
If no joy then I too will go to the consumer association.

Re: Advice needed Fridgefreezer problems.
Just to bring everyone up to speed, after constant telephone calls and our good friend Ahmet persistance , what is the old saying 'like a dog with a bone', this afternoon we had delivered a new fridge/freezer and guess what folks! the new to us Arcelik employees were totally gob smacked to see when they pulled the original problem one out it was connected to our standard out here three pin socket with a rammed in round two pin plug!!!
They then started to get quite aggravated with me until I was able to make them understand that it was their colleagues that had done the fitting not me.
The back of the fridge/freezer, the wall and the floor were the same black as the interior of the fridge which we had complained about in the first place.
Is this the answer to the problem?
The main fitter this afternoon made two phone calls which sounded quite irrate to whoever but it would be nice to know if this was the cause of the problem and to prove to Arcelick that my other half did not indeed put a candle in the fridge!!! As if!!!
After this experience we would never again buy anything from this company as their so called guarentee means nothing, at the time of sale they are sweetness and light but if you are unfortunate enough to have a faulty product, they do not want to know!!! Be warned!!
