Ozanköy couple given relatively lenient sentences in Bali

The British couple with two villas close to the Altınkaya Hotel in Ozanköy, 43-year-old Julian Ponder (shown below) and his 38-year-old partner Rachel Douglas have been given 6-year and 1-year sentences respectively by the Indonesian authorities for drug smuggling related offences. Seeing as Ponder was thought to be the "mastermind" behind the whole operation, it is considered that he got off lightly - 56-year-old Lindsay Sandford, who was actually caught with the 1.6-million-pounds' worth of cocaine in her suitcase, was not so fortunate - she has been sentenced to death ... though it is likely she will appeal.
