Sorry, but is just me I find it difficult to take women commentators seriously in this and many other sport. Rather like women being head of the metropolitan police, I think they are there for the wrong reasons all to often, ok here we go cat among the pegions .

I do think that bringing in ex women footballers as analysts because they played the sport is silly. The gap between the women’s and men’s game is that large that they may as well bring in a pub player to give his opinion.
As for commentators I’m not that fussed tbh.
And as for them bringing in women to be more inclusive I’d be more impressed if the women ex players they bought in weren’t attractive otherwise it is just patronising tbh

Strangely enough, I was listening to the Scotland game on Radio 5 today, it wasn't until half way through the 2nd half that I realised it was a female commentating. As a result I then paid extra attention to her commentary, and fairness to her she was really good. However, I still do feel a bit unsure when they are there as pundits beside the pitch, or in the studio, as it is definitely a box ticking exercise. IMHO.

No reason that anyone who is a competent broadcaster can’t do a decent job. After all it is pretty much identify the player and say what is happening.
Motson, Barry Davies, Brian Moore and Colman didn’t have any background as players and grew into the job. Brian Moore was dreadful when he started.
My problem is bringing in a woman pundit when she is playing at best non-league football

Don’t get me started….. the best female sport in the world ( tennis) . Women want the same prize money as men ( fair enough) but they can only play the best of 3 sets!!!

Do you think serena could live with federer etc ? Never in a zillion years.

Plus the tv audience female tennis draws is a fraction of the men’s game. Why?

I remember McEnroe offering to play both Williams sisters at the same time when they were at their peak and he was in his 40s. They never took him up on his offer. The best woman player wouldn’t take a set off of anyone in the top 200 in the men’s game

Female soccer is fine except they should do the same as the male game and exchange/swap shirts at the final whistle! That would ensure full stadium capacity!!

There is no such sport as “soccer” apart from the USA (:Z)(

As an elderly fan of the so called "beautiful game" (never could understand who or why first it described as such) I personally don't like women commentators, they don't have the gravitas in their voices. Please don't lecture me on being old fashioned, because you are probably correct and I don't care. I'm not keen on women commentators of any sport!! (Perhaps womens athletics by women who have been world champions themselves)

I think it was Pele who first used the phrase. I guess if you are going to quote anyone about football he's not the worst choice
