Re: Prudential insurance
The UK tax man sent me a refund last year for roughly the same amount. As I had 6 months to find home for the cheque, I just sent it back to family in UK and they paid it into their account and then did money transfer into my UK bank. Their could well be a quicker way than this, but the system worked OK for me.

Assume you have received the cheque here in NC.
Easy if you are a NatWest customer, https://www.natwest.com/banking-with-na ... html#howto

Are you trying to pay into a NC bank a UK issued sterling cheque?Hammerhead wrote: ↑Mon 13 Dec 2021 12:49 pmYes I received it here and my bank does not deal with overseas cheques
If so, and and you say your bank here will not accept the cheque, you may have to pay into a UK bank account, assuming you have one, using a facility such as l linked to in my previous post.
It is likely other UK banks provide similar cheque deposit tools given there are so few branches these days.

Re: Prudential insurance
Could you call the prudential, explain the problem, ask them to cancel cheque and pay the money direct to your account?Hammerhead wrote: ↑Mon 13 Dec 2021 1:29 pmMy pension goes normally straight into my bank account so I am wondering why they sent this cheque

Re: Prudential insurance
If you have a UK bank account, together with Online Banking, then you should be able to photograph the cheque and deposit it into your account. Alternatively, contact Prudential, ask them to cancel the cheque, give them your UK bank details and have them deposit your refund into your account.Hammerhead wrote: ↑Mon 13 Dec 2021 1:28 pmI have a uk bank account but the problem is getting it to the uk,and my daughters address

Re: Prudential insurance
Well, your original post mentioned Credit West being your choice of bank here in NC and they not being able to help you cash or deposit a UK originated Sterling value cheque.
Out of idle curiosity l checked the main UK banks, all of which provide a facility to deposit a cheque without having to enter a branch, without even being in the UK for that matter, and there lies the answer to the problem cited in your original post.
Providing the name of your choice of bank in the UK would help in identifying if your UK bank have arrangements in place for clients to deposit a cheque using technology.
Only trying to help.

Re: Prudential insurance
Using your bank’s app, you could pay in your cheque simply by taking a photo of the cheque when requested by the app to do so.
Alternatively send a photo of the cheque to your daughter in the UK. Ask your daughter to visit a branch of your bank armed either with the photo or a print out of the photo.
Careful as you say you are, l am presuming you would provide your daughter with your account number and sort code. That should be sufficient to pay in your cheque.
Job done.
