Russain flights still coming into Turkey
I see when the rest of the civilized world has banned flights from Russia, Turkey is still letting them come in.
So Russians can fly into Istanbul and then onward to the rest of the world.
Pressure has to be put on Russians, to put pressure on the Russian Government.

Re: Russain flights still coming into Turkey
What you are suggesting is not correct in my opinion. These people who travel (especially to TRNC) are ordinary Russian people and most of them just want to escape this horrible regime. I have many Russian friends here and abroad. Each one of them is strictly against this war and condemns it. Russians, who are in Russia organize big protests against the war and government at them moment and for this they are being arrested and prosecuted. Nobody from the general population of Russia supports the current actions of the government and most of these families are just trying to escape Russia, especially families with children who are in the age of conscription, so they don't get sent to Ukraine. They are all victims of a crazy leader with sick ambitions.

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

iv_Cyprus, Pressure has to be put on Russians to put pressure on Putin and the Government. I'm not talking about TRNC, I'm talking about all Russians trying to go anywhere.
I'm very sure your friends are very nice people, but did they vote for Putin at the elections.
By the way.. I watch the news as well.

My friends don't even live in Russia because of the regime. Ones who are there have been trying to escape. Have in mind, what little known to the western society is that it is not very easy for the regular Russian citizen to leave the country. Even in normal times, many people who want to travel from Russia are returned at the Russian airport for "not having a legitimate reason to travel"Hair Cut wrote: ↑Mon 28 Feb 2022 12:51 pmiv_Cyprus, Pressure has to be put on Russians to put pressure on Putin and the Government. And yeah, none of them voted for Putin, since they believe elections are rigged, which is likely to be true.

South Cyprus as part of the EU have reluctantly agreed to enforce the no flight zones for Russian aircraft. They will review this if they find that Russian tourists are diverting to North Cyprus via Turkey. Cyprus Mail on line today.

I wouldn't have thought that ROC would be able to pick and choose, being part of the EU.

I wonder when this is all over, and it will one way or another, whether it will be as in Germany after WWII, i.e. you could never ever get a German to admit they or any of their family had supported the Nazi. When I was an exchange student I was taken to visit a Grandmother, when I entered the living room I noticed a head and shoulders b and w A4 size photograph of what was clearly an officer wearing SS insignia (leaf and diamond I think) When we came back inside from a tour around the garden, the photograph had been removed. Nothing was mentioned and I certainly didn't say a thing, but I've never forgotten it. Do you think Putins supporters will admit it, particularly as he was a KGB Lt.Col./agent for 15+ years.

Turkish and Aeroflot flying today into Istanbul, disgusting.
Does the Government of Turkey not understand or are they looking for another UAE-style loan?
