Recommendation - Lak Kebap

It is rare for me to recommend anything on this forum, as the saying goes - 100% of the people etc - always prove correct. However, I am happy to report what I have found to be "probably" the best Kebap I have ever had in the past 17 years of living here.

Found this place by accident as I was meeting a friend from the South, in the car park of a well known discount store midway between the Credit West Bank and the Cratos Hotel.

Lak Kebap appears to be a kind of mobile truck stop affair but is in fact a purpose built wooden and steel building that houses the kitchen area and nothing else. If you wish you can either eat there or have paket/take away service. Not sure if you can phone in an order as we have only had a take away from there once!!! Found out that he opens at 18:00 everyday apart from Sunday and Monday. Limited menu of separate Kebap's, chicken, seftali, meat, etc. All of which come with salad, chips, peppers and pickles just about everything is contained in a large bread wrap! Be warned, if you buy this as a take away and plan on just unwrapping the end and eating it by starting at one end then good luck with that and I hope you have a large mouth to start with - lol.

We both had the seftali kebap but that was a mistake as we could not eat it all - way to big for us! Inside the wrap were five seftali, excellent taste and flavour, mixed salad, thin chips, grilled hellim, outside was grilled green pepper and sliced gherkin plus a good slice of juicy lemon to squeeze over the salad.

Not cheap but definitely worth a try at 480TL a wrap, I can recommend the seftali takeaway kebap without any reservation!!! I have a loose bridge so did not want to try the meat (lamb) one but I will be doing next week for sure. The two guys who were running the place last night also speak very good English so don't be afraid to go talk to them.

Thanks for tad Waddo, especially tip about loose bridge. Im indoors has the same which tends to restrict sometimes. Actually seems more a case of buy one and halve it to me.

Update - Just dropped into "Dima" that is the discount shop, to buy my tea bags and found that Lak Kebap is actually open from 12:00 on a Saturday as well.

Just in case you are hungry...
