VACANCY - KYRENIA ANIMAL RESCUE /GIRNE HAYVAN KURTAR
JOB DESCRIPTION: Deputy Centre Manager
To assist in the day to day running of the rescue centre which is operated by Kyrenia Animal Rescue.
You will be expected to support the present Manager in the care of the animals (both dogs and cats) looked after by the charity and to work with the present staff members. This will involve the following activities.
Essential:
• To show an ability to work confidently with animals and demonstrate compassion to the animals in your care i.e. cleaning and feeding of the centre animals and grooming of the dogs and cats.
• To support the Centre Manager in the day to day running of the centre and deputise when necessary.
• To have a good level of English; both written and spoken.
• Demonstrate good communication skills with other staff, volunteers and visitors to the centre.
• To be willing to plan and supervise the everyday work of the centre staff i.e. producing every day rotas for work to be completed and take responsibility for Centre security at the end of the day.
• To have clean and valid KKTC Driving Licence
• To be able to drive both manual and automatic vehicles owned by the charity. The vehicles are used to transport fellow workers to the centre in the morning and evening, and animals to the vet as required.
• To work flexible hours and weekends to maintain acceptable staffing levels at all times i.e. covering holidays, staff days off and illness.
Because the position involves picking up staff you will need to live in the Girne area between Karsiyaka in the west, and Alagadi in the east.
Desirable:
• To be willing and able to help maintain the buildings and facilities of the rescue centre i.e. tasks that would be usually associated with a general handyman.
• To help train new members of the Centre Team in caring for the animals leading to good practices and so maintaining best quality of care possible.
• To be confident with other professionals i.e. vets and government offices linked to the care of the animals.
• To be willing to learn how to administer medication to the centre animals.
• To show initiative when necessary.
Hours of work : 40 hours
Salary : Minimum wage
